BARHYTE GOES HAWAIIAN WITH NEW CONDIMENT LINE

Portland’s “NoHo’s Hawaiian Café” Hangs Ten as Barhyte Specialty Foods Rolls Out New Hawaiian Sauce Line

Pendleton, OR – (January 13, 2008)– NoHo’s Hawaiian Café of Portland, Oregon introduced its own line of Hawaiian sauces through its private label relationship with Barhyte Specialty Foods in October of last year. The new sauces are sold retail in NoHo’s Cafés – located in Portland, Beaverton, Eugene, Medford, and Ketchum, Idaho; and are being sold into specialty food stores nationwide through Barhyte Specialty Foods’ wholesale food channel.

Barhyte Specialty Foods’ “Saucy Mama” has worked with NoHo in concocting four different flavors from paradise for the company, including:

Teriyaki Sauce
Sweet Chili Sauce
Coconut Sauce
Sweet Chili-Yaki

NoHo’s café was founded by No Ho, in 1996. A “local boy” of Hawaiian, Portuguese, and Italian descent, he was born and raised in Hawaii, and spent his summers working on his Grandfather’s farm on Maui. Working up a large appetite and developing a love for “traditional home-style cooking,” No Ho says that he is proud to introduce his sauces and “to share the unique flavors of home.” “I’m very lucky to work with Barhyte Specialty Foods in bottling our original recipes that are really reminiscent of the islands, and to bring a little paradise to the mainland.”

“NoHo’s café is a Portland destination spot – people love their food and we are proud to work with NoHo’s in offering the original favorite No Ho flavor combinations for their sauces,” says Chris Barhyte, President of Sales and Marketing for Barhyte Specialty Foods. “We feel that the success of the restaurants is only the tip of the iceberg, or should we say “wave,” as the sauces are authentic and restaurant patrons have sought out NoHo’s secret sauces.” For more information on NoHo’s Café and Catering, visit www.nohos.com .

NoHo’s Hawaiian Sauces are sold at the restaurants and distributed nationwide in 12 oz. glass jars. The sauces are also be available online at www.barhyte.com.

Barhyte Specialty Foods, based out of Pendleton, Oregon, has roots dating back 200 years and 6,000 miles away in Germany, where Jacobus Barhyte first created a sweet and sour mustard that he brought to the US. Many generations later, Jan and Susan Barhyte began selling mustard from the original recipe, as well as other signature creations, through their Swift and Martin Station Deli. Thanks to overwhelming demand, the family launched their own manufacturing operation in 1977. Today, the company offers more than 65 award-winning mustards, marinades, sauces, and other condiments.
